Helen V. Dreshar

Funeral services for Helen V. Dreshar, 90, of Gilbert, will be 11 AM Monday January 3, 2011 at United In Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth with Rev. Joel Rova-Hegener officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Sunday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and continues Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Mrs. Dreshar died Monday December 27, 2010 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia, where she has been a resident since December of 2002. Helen Viola Dreshar was born January 15, 1920 in Biwabik, MN to Hilma (Pellinen) Kivilahti. She graduated from the Biwabik High School in 1937. In January of 1940 Helen was united in marriage with Anthony Dreshar Sr. The couple made their home in Gilbert where Helen was employed by Cluett-Peabody for nearly 35 years. Helen suffered the death of her husband in June of 1980. Helen was a member of the Gilbert VFW Auxilliary, the Gilbert Senior Citizens and the Fayal Golden Club. She enjoyed taking care of her many pets, dancing, Polka music, traveling, playing cards, trips to the casinos and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children Carole (Wilbert) Mattson of Eveleth, Anthony (Ann) Dreshar of Britt, Mary (Rudy) Debevec of Eveleth; grandchildren Allan (Christine) Mattson, James Mattson, Wanda (Todd) McGillivray, Craig (Wendy) Mattson, John (Christy) Dreshar, Aaron (Christy) Dreshar, Michael (Kristi) Debevec, Teresa Debevec, Christopher Debevec; 11 great grandchildren; siblings Wilburt (Dorothy) Ranta, Thelma Heikkila, Ben (Nancy) Kivilahti. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Jason Mattson.
