Funeral Mass for Karen Therese Petrich, 67, of Fayal Township, Eveleth, will be 10am Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Ryan Moravitz as celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday (today) from 5-7pm with wake prayers at 6:30pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, MN. Mrs. Petrich died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at her residence. She was born May 17, 1943 in La Porte, Indiana to Leo and Rose (O'Koren) Nagolski. Karen was a graduate of Eveleth High School and later earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from St. Cloud State University. On July 31, 1965 she married Louis Petrich at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eveleth. Karen taught fourth grade at Washington Elementary in Hibbing and later worked as a secretary for Leisure Hills. She most recently worked as an executive secretary for Hibbing Electronics for over 20 years. Karen was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its choir. She was also a member of the Hibbing and Eveleth Bridge Clubs for many years. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Louis, children: Paul (Bridget) Petrich, Michael (Natalie) Petrich and David (Kari) Petrich all of Hibbing and Peter Petrich of Sioux Falls, SD, grandchildren: Tyler, Nick, Savannah, Zachary, Kaitlyn, Nora, Alicia and Jacob, brother, Richard (Linda) Nagolski of Florida, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents.
