Funeral Mass for Margaret J. Berg, 93, of Virginia, formerly of Markham, will be 10:30am Saturday at St. John's Catholic church in Biwabik with Fr. Frank Perkovich as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Duluth, MN. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Mrs. Berg died Wed. Jan. 5, 2011 at St. Michael's Health and Rehab Center in Virginia. She was born March 21, 1917 in Duluth, MN to Clovise and Augusta (Desender) Demuynck. Margaret was a graduate of St. Jeans High School in West End and worked for Elliott's Meat Packing Plant from 1936-1952. On June 7, 1952 she married Erick Berg in Duluth. Margaret worked at Elliott's Meat Packing Palnt as a payroll clerk from 1936-1952. In 1952 they moved to Markham. Margaret was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, its council of Catholic women and a former board of trustees member. She was also a member of The Gilbert VFW Auxiliary, the Aurora American Legion Auxiliary, the Slovenian Women's Union #39 and the Markham Sewing Club #1. Survivors include her nieces, Sue Diemert, Sandra Black and Jeanine Berg all of Duluth, nephews, Steven Petruk of Superior and Scott Diemert, several great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Erick and brother, Morris.
