Funeral service for Alicia K. Wiediger, 81, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 11am Friday, Jan.28 at First Baptist Church in Aurora with Rev. Karl Helwig officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home of Aurora. Alicia died in the early morning of Monday, January 24, 2011 at Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. She was born in Menahga, MN at her parent's home on May 9, 1929, the daughter of Joseph and Emelia (Niemela) Pellikka. Alicia graduated from Menahga Public School in 1947 and married William A. Wiediger on Nov. 26, 1955. She and her husband lived in Hoyt Lakes for more than 50 years. Alicia worked as a dental hygienist in St. Paul for a brief time. She and her husband enjoyed traveling across the United States along with their children and wintering in the south until her husband's death. She was an independent woman who's love of Jesus her Lord and Savior was of utmost importance. She enjoyed singing along with and listening to old hymns. Family and friends were of extreme importance to her and she cherished each relationship. Alicia was an excellent card player and typically won at Rummy. She was proud of her Finnish heritage and enjoyed speaking Finn with others. She adored her two grandsons and wore the title "Grammy" with pride. Nothing could brighten her day more than her grandsons. She is dearly loved and will be missed. Survivors include her sons, Randy Wiediger of Warroad, MN and Craig (Jolee) Wiediger of Duluth, grandsons, Mason and Maddox of Duluth, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William on Feb. 12, 1994, brothers, Hans, Joe and Edwin, sister, Ruth Ristenen.
