Funeral service for Ruth F. Williams, 91, of Virginia, formerly of Palo, will be 11am Tuesday at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rauha Cemetery in White Township, MN. Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia, MN. She was born March 17, 1919 in Makinen, MN to Paul and Ida (Latvala) Westerlund. Ruth attended school in Makinen and Cotton and later married Toivo Williams on Apr. 29, 1939 in Makinen. Ruth was a homemaker and member of the Lakeside Bible Church of Palo and Silver Bay. She was also a member of the Ladies of Kaleva and the Makinen and Palo Senior Citizens. In the mid-1960's and 1970's she was Teen Club Leader of Palo-Markham and in the 1950's and 1960's served as District Chairman of the Lutheran Church Women. Survivors include her children, Kathleen (John) Saumer of Markham, Bradford (Cathy) Williams of Palo and Keith (Lisa) Williams of Palo, foster daughter, Lorna Boots of LuVerne, MN, 11 grandchildren: Kelly (Keith) Pelto, Paul (Lori) Saumer, Robert (Crystal) Saumer, Rachel (Steve) Davis, Eric, Adam and Ian Williams, Molly (Adam) Maier, Amanda (Adam) Sharp and Jacob and Samuel Williams, eight great grandchildren: Kasie and John Saumer, Arne Pelto, Erikka Davis, Latrell, Prentiss and Senja Maier and Kiera Saumer, brothers, LaRoy Westerlund of New Hope and Harry Westerlund of Makinen, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Toivo, son, Paul in 1955, brother, Raymond, sisters, Violet Johnson and Bernice Sandstedt.
