Dorothy E. Sundstrom

Funeral service for Dorothy E. Sundstrom, 82, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10:30am Friday, Feb. 4 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Rev. Charles Barnes officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Homes. Mrs. Sundstrom died Tues. Feb. 1, 2011 at Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. She was born March 1, 1928 in Mora, MN to Walter and Helen (Soderstrom) Johnson. On January 11, 1947 she married James D. Sundstrom near Grandy, MN. The couple resided in several communities, including Mora, Braham, the North Shore, Minneapolis, and Lake Vermilion due to her husband's occupation. They retired to Hoyt Lakes in 1994. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of Faith Lutheran Church and its quilting group. She was also a member of the Hoyt Lakes VFW Auxiliary and the Hoyt Lakes Senior Citizens. Survivors include her children, Donald (Julee) Sundstrom of Babbitt, Diane (Bruce) Hallada of Lakeland and Judy (Bert) Whittington of Cloquet, granddaughter, Nicole (Paul) Ollila of Mt Iron, two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Isabelle Ollila, a step granddaughter, step grandchildren, brother, Arvid (Neecol) Johnson of Beaverton, Oregon, brother-in-law, Donald Peterson, sister-in-law, Jean Ann Johnson of Nashwauk, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James D., sister, Geraldine Peterson, brother, Duane Johnson.
