John F. Rokser

Funeral Mass for John F. Rokser, 93, of Aurora, will be 11am Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial with military honors accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Mr. Rokser died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at Essentia Health - Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. John was born June 26, 1917 in Ironwood, Michigan to John and Suzanna (Sedlak) Rokser. He was a 1935 graduate of Ironwood High School. John worked for a short time prior to enlisting with the US Army during WWII. Following his military service, he married Elizabeth Klaus on June 26, 1943. In 1959 they moved to Aurora where he worked for Erie Mining Company. He retired as a painter with 24 years of service. John was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Aurora American Legion Post 241, the Steelworkers Union #4108 and the Aurora Senior Citizens. He was a former Aurora Moose Lodge member. John was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Survivors include his children, Donna (Dean) Effinger of Duluth, Jack (Karen) of Chippewa Falls, WI, Patricia (Patrick) Gastonguay of Burnsville, Dennis (Nancy) of Duluth, Bob (Cyndi) of White Bear Lake and Jim (Peggy) of Aurora, foster sons, Tony and Sam Bigboy, 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth, daughter, Suzanna, brothers, Joseph and Michael, sister, Ann, granddaughter, Hannah Rokser.
