Funeral service for Alice E. (McFarland) Beise, 89, of Virginia, formerly of Aurora, MN, will be 11am Monday, March 7, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mapleton, MN with Rev. Vicki Hultine officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Visitation will also take place Friday, March 4, 2011 from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Mapleton, MN. Funeral arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and the Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton, MN. Mrs. Biese passed away at her son Ronald Beise's home on March 1, 2011. Alice lived a long, full life filled with all life has to offer. She married Russell Beise Dec. 29, 1941 in Mapleton, MN and buried him there on June 30, 1988. Together they farmed in the Detroit Lakes area. In 1954 they moved to Aurora, Mn and raised two sons, Ronald and Gary. Alice worked at the Co-op store for many years. She and Russell travelled the country in their R.V. and were members of the Winnebago Club, making many friends along the way. Following Russell's death, Alice began wintering in McAllen, TX. Her son, Gary, passed away in July of 1994 and she moved to Virginia to be closer to her son, Ron. She continued to travel and garden with Ron and his family. Survivors include her son, Ron (Kathy) Beise of Virginia, six grandchildren, Annette (Derek) McGarry of Skerries, Ireland, Mark Beise of White Bear Lake, Renee (Tom) Sherek of Aurora, David (Margit) Beise of Aurora, Amy (Kyle) Maloney of Virginia and William (Courtney) Beise of Bemidji, 15 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, three sisters, Marion, Betty and Margaret, two brothers, Robert and Jim, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Russell, son, Gary, grandson, Todd, brother, Richard McFarland.
