Funeral service for Emil Daniel Spielman, 85, of Mission, TX will be 1pm Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Aurora with Rev. Donald Stauty officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Mr. Spielman died suddenly Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, TX. He was born April 16, 1925 in Murry County, MN to Julius and Mary (Deutschman) Spielman. He attended Murry County Schools and later served our country at the age of 17 with the US Navy form Nov. 1942 - Apr. 1946. Following his military service, he worked at Koep Implement in Windom, MN from 1947-1957. He married Margaret Kroll on Jan. 20, 1947 in Windom, Minnesota. They moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1957 where he began working for Erie Mining Company until 1964. In 1964 he became the Superintendant of Public Works for the City of Hoyt Lakes, with 22 years of service. Following Margaret's death, he married LaVonne E. Foltz on May 6, 1991 in Mitchell, SD. Emil was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Life Member of the Hoyt Lakes VFW Post. Survivors include his wife, LaVonne; children, Emil D. (Carol) Spielman Jr. of Duluth, Larry D. (Donna) Spielman of Duluth, Patricia A. (Bill) Matko of Eveleth, Joann M. Spielman of Duluth, Brian A. (Lori) Spielman of Eveleth and Marie S. (Brad) Hudson of Issaquah, Wash, Bob Foltz, Deb (Steve) Obermann and Stan (Jana) Foltz; siblings, Ruby Schlemmer, Shirley (Dale) Arthur, Dorothy (Don) Waxberg, Donna (Les) Pinz, Julius Spielman and David (Vickie) Lang; Grandchildren: Jon (Amanda) Matko, Chris (Traci) Matko, Amy Matko, Matt Spielman, Katie Spielman, Nick Spielman, Rachel Spielman and Taylor Spielman; Two great grandsons; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Margaret; siblings, Viola Pohl, Kenneth Spielman, Eva Bluhm, Bertha Bremer, Ida Speckmier, Helen Meech, Richard Spielman and Alice Roby
