Funeral service for Robert M. Bussinger, 86, of Virginia, formerly of Aurora, will be 10:30am Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Virginia with Rev. Brad Felix officiating. Visitation will be Thursday (today) from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial with military honors will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Mr. Bussinger died Monday, April 11, 2011 at St. Michael's Health and Rehab Center in Virginia. He was born Apr. 30, 1924 in South Dakota to Walter and Glida Bussinger. He attended school in Blue Earth, MN and later enlisted with the US Arir Force. Robert was a tailgunner during WWII. On Feb. 26, 1945 he married Irene Reimann. Robert was a mechanic all of his life and retired from LTV Steel. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Aurora American Legion Post and the Hoyt Lakes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, where he served as past commander and member of its color guard. He was also a member of the Western Minnesota Steam Thrashers Association. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Bussinger of Eveleth; son, Larry (Cookie) Bussinger of Mora; 11 grandchilden, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Delores Somnis of Albert Lea; many nieces and nephews.
