Violet E. Peterson

Memorial service for Violet Peterson, 90, formerly of Virginia, will be 10am Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Virginia with Rev. Brenda King officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia, MN. The family prefers memorials be directed to the Mesabi Humane Society, 2305 Southern Drive, Virginia, MN 55792. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Mrs. Peterson died April 3, 2011 at Bouthwell's Landing in Oak Park Heights, MN. She was born Aug. 22, 1920 in Eveleth, MN to Frank and Marguerite (Toti) Bartolus. Violet was a graduate of Eveleth High School and later married Milton L. Peterson on March 19, 1939 in Mt. Iron, MN. Violet was a longtime resident of Virginia and during that time worked for Ostrov's Market and Super One Foods. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Virginia. Violet's family was the most important thing in her life. She was a wonderful, kind and loving person who loved her family and always thought of them first. She loved her cat, Lily, her knitting and teaching others to knit and tending to her yard and flowers. She was a rock in all of our lives that cannot be replaced. We will miss her very much. Survivors include her children: Russell (Jaydene Morrison) Peterson, Margaret (Tom) Wiklund, Kay (Peter) Palazzari and Carolyn (Dave) Tuttle; grandchildren: Shaun (Tammy) McNeill, Natasha (Jeremy Besbris) Peterson, Shannon (Lindsay) Peterson, Kimberly (Jeff) Chevalier, Annette (Keith) Pearson, Angie (Dell) Boykin, Lezli Tuttle and Kyle (Danielle) Tuttle; great grandchildren: Rylee, Faith, Lauren, Danielle, Neala, Ryan, Matt, Brooke and Kaityln; siblings: Marge (Norman) Olson of Eveleth and Elisio (Shirley) Bartolus of Chisholm; sister-in-law: Ardyce A. (Roland) Bartolus of Eveleth; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years, Milton, siblings: Fran (Emil) Draskovich, Rose (Americus) Petrella, Ann (Ed) Hoff, Nello (Gail) Bartolus, Jildo (Hazel) Bartolus and Roland Bartolus; sister-in-law: Mary C. (Geta) Bartolus.
