Memorial Mass for Louis Julius Philipczyk, 83, of Aurora, will be 10am Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Inurnment will be in Morningside Cemetery in Coon Rapids, MN. Memorials are preferred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Mr. Philipczyk died Sat. April 30, 2011 at Essentia Health - Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. He was born Aug. 26, 1927 in Waite Park, MN to Louis David and Minnie Winifred (Heuchling) Philipczyk. His childhood was spent in Morton, MN and later in Hinckley, MN. On June 30, 1949 he married Mary Rose Dickson and together they had six children. Louis was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church. He began working as a farmer and later moved to Minneapolis to learn the welding trade. He worked at General Steel for ten years, then Twin City Shipyard for ten years and finally for Twin City Monorail. He worked many side-jobs and received his pilots license to pilot tug boats on the Mississippi River. In 1956 they moved to Coon Rapids until his and Mary's retirement, when they moved to Aurora. Survivors include his wife, Mary Rose; daughters: Linda Jean (Paul Ramsey), Kathy Lee (Dan Haben) and Denise (Curt Karger); sons: Louis Thomas (Darla LaVigne), Dennis Michael (Valory), Kevin (Nancy Jean Bergstrom); 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Delores Schnobrick; brothers-in-law: Thomas (Karen) and Robert (Judy); sister-in-law, Gail Irene (Mark Myrvold) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Mary H. Vogland and Lucille Manzer, brothers: Leonard, Walter, George, Eddy and Julius, mother and father-in-law, Phyllis (Anderman) and Thomas Dickson, brother-in-law, Willson Dickson, sister-in-law, Patsy (Dickson) Moore, two great grandchildren: Elijah and Max Ramsey.
