Memorial service for William B. Day, 81, of Lake Eshquaguma, will be 4pm today (Friday) at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Rev. Patricia Gillespie officiating. Visitation will begin at 3pm with a Masonic Service at 3:30pm. Inurnment with military honors accorded by the Gilbert VFW will be in the Biwabik Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Will, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 31, 1929 in Great Falls, Montana to Robert and Florence (Burghardt) Day. He was a 1947 graduate of North St. Paul High School. Will enlisted with the US Air Force in 1949, began officer training in 1950 and was discharged in 1953. Will was the owner and Principal Officer of Tire Retread Co and Tufco Inc. until he retired in December 1992. As a member of the community, he was involved with the Jaycee's, Rotary, Mason's, Jesters, North Central Tire Dealers, Biwabik School Board, and other organizations. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family. Will is survived by his wife, Maureen; five children: Debbie (Terry) Augustson of Ramsey, MN, Darlene (Stephen) Henderson of Salem, OR, Diane (Rory) Malner of Gilbert, Dawn (Steve) Rhoads of Salem, OR and Dwight (Georgia) Day of Eveleth; ten grandchildren: Emily, Jessica, Bryana, Derek, William, Amy, Lisa, Stephen, Jonathan and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Day of Lake Eshquaguma, sister, Priscilla Olson of N. St. Paul
