Funeral Mass for Ronald John Stanek, 70, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:30pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue for one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American cancer Society. Mr. Stanek died peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 30, 2011. He was born May 5, 1941 in Brainerd, MN to Otto and Delores (Jelinski) Stanek. Ron was a 1960 graduate of Little Falls High School and on Oct. 29, 1963 married Dorothy Czech. Ron began working for Erie Mining Company in 1970 and retired from LTV Steel in Sept. 2000 as a coarse crusher operator. Following his retirement, he worked at the Hoyt Lakes Recycling Center. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he was an usher and member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and time spent at Myrtle Lake. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, children: Cheryl Plourde of Aurora, Annette (Rick) Calendine of Gratiot, OH, Laura (Paul) Ventrella of Ramsey and RJ (Angie) Stanek of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Matt (Amanda), Brandon (Alison), Nick (Kristina), Mallory, Tommy, Cassie and Anicka; his mother, Delores Stanek of Little Falls, siblings: Roger (Arlene) Stanek of Little Falls and Renee (Ray) Zok of Vergas, MN; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Otto, son-in-law, Steve Plourde (9-11-2010) and his father and mother-in-law, Tom and Helen Czech.
