Funeral service for Ronald D. Haynes, 85, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 2pm Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes. Rev. Charles Barnes will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Mr. Haynes died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. He was born May 9, 1926 in Taconite, MN to George and Nettie (McNitt) Haynes. Ronald was a 1944 graduate of Greenway High School and later enlisted with the US Navy during WWII. On January 14, 1950 he married Marie Hoey in Marble, MN. They moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1958 and Ronald began working for Erie Mining Company. He retired from US Steel in 1987 as a millwright. He was a member of the Aurora American Legion Post 241 and the Timothy Robinson VFW Post in Hoyt Lakes. Survivors include his children: Ronald G. (Gina) Haynes of Hoyt Lakes, Cheryl Palmi of Hoyt Lakes, Joanne (John) Dick of Grand Rapids, Connie Halling of Grand Rapids, Randy (Linda) Haynes of Madison, WI and Rick (Rita) Haynes of Grand Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marie, grandson, Tanner and eleven brothers and sisters.
