Frederick M. "Doc" Dockery, 87, of Hoyt Lakes, died Saturday August 20, 2011 at Essentia Health Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday August 24, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home of Aurora. He was born October 2, 1923 to Grover and Louise (Madden) Dockery in Des Moines, Iowa. Doc served over thirty years in the military; serving in the Navy, Air Force, and retiring from the Army. On Oct. 12, 1945 he married Doris Swalwell in Rockville, Maryland. In 1957 they moved to Hoyt Lakes, where Doc worked as a welder for Erie Mining Company. Doc had a mischievous grin, and will be dearly missed by his loved ones. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Life Member of the Timothy Robinson VFW Post #8144, Life Member of the Aurora American Legion Post 241, a former 8th District VFW President, Life Member of the 515th Parachute Infantry, Life Member of the TREA and a Life Member of the COOTIES. He was also a former member of the Aurora Moose and its bowling team. He is survived by daughter Pat (Eddie) Tekautz of Hoyt Lakes; two granddaughters Michelle Metzer and Robin (Mike) Flannery; 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Kristina, Matthew, Jessa, Kristie, Lucas, Whittney, Robbie, Samantha, and Mike; 7 great-great-grandchildren, Anthony, DeAndre, Jayden, Ciaus, Brooklyn, Marlyee and Lydia; sister, Betty Standley; brother, Bob Dockery; three sisters-in-law Jeanette Swalwell, Helen Haggee, Colleen Swalwell; cousin Ulysses Madden; extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; great grandson James; grandson-in-law, Tony; brother, Jim.
