Funeral service for Elmer Leon Forsman, 78, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 11am Monday, September 26, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes. Rev. Aaron Lofgren will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Elmer died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. He was born Aug. 21, 1933 in Cokato, MN to William and Lempi (Johnson) Forsman. He served with the US Navy from 1951-1954. Following that time he married Norma Nass on July 10, 1955 in Hutchinson, MN. Again, from 1958-1959 he served in the US Navy. Following his military service he worked as a maintenance mechanic for Erie Mining Company. He retired in 1995 from LTV Steel with 37 1/2 years of service. He and his wife also enjoyed working their furniture re-upholstering business for 15 years. Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing and trips to the casino. He was a member of the Hoyt Lakes Senior Citizens and Faith Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Norma; children, Keith (Barb) of Eden Prairie, Brian (Cyndee) of Aurora, Cheri (Keith) Johnson of Aurora, Kyle (Nikki) of Woodstock, GA and Hope (Eric) Leoni of Boulder, CO; grandchildren, Arik (Jess), Britney, Blaine, Drew, Sam, Anna, Jack, Luke and Jack; siblings, Ev Kenney and Florence Nelson; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Clarence, Floyd and Edna.
