A service Celebrating the Life of Don Rae Myklebust, 84, of Aurora, will be held 11am Friday, September 30, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Aurora, with Rev. Karl Helwig officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at the church. Inurnment with military honors, accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard, will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Don went to his reward on Sept. 22, 2011 surrounded by his wife and children in the house he so dearly loved for 50 years. Don was born Feb. 27, 1927 in Des Moines, IA to Sam and Zatha (Madden) Myklebust. He served his country in the Army Air Force, mostly in Germany, during WWII. On Feb. 25, 1950, he married Ann Pinnick at St. Anthony's Church in Des Moines. Don owned and operated M&M Electric for many years. He wore many hats… one of his favorites was his fishing hat that he wore as he guided on Lake Kabetogama. Don was a member of the IBEW #294 of Hibbing and the Aurora American Legion Post 241. He enjoyed fishing, music, dancing, and baseball, as well as snowmobiling and four wheeling. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ann; five children; Nels (Jodie) Myklebust of Eveleth, DeeAnn Maxwell of Duluth, Mary Kay Myklebust of Vancouver, WA, Brenda (Eric) Kline of Rochester and Monica Myklebust of Portland, OR, and grandchildren: Adam (Larissa), Megan (Matt), Ryan, Cameron, Gabriel, Angela and Davide; one great granddaughter, London, born the week of Don's death; and his sister, Sybil McCabe, St.Paul, MN. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Zatha, and his lifelong friend and cousin Richard Adams of Hoyt Lakes. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.
