Memorial service for Eleanore L. Phillipich, 95, of Lake Eshquaguma, will be 10:30am Friday, October 21, 2011 at Community United Church of Christ in Biwabik. Rev. Rodney Slessor will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Eleanore died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora, MN. She was born October 11, 1915 in Duluth, MN to Ernest and Emma (Paulson) Saaf. Eleanore was a graduate of Denfeld High School and later attended Young and Hursh Business College. She worked for Whitney Coal and Coke and Scott Graff Lumber Company in Duluth. On September 14, 1938 she married Sidney Blackmore in Superior, WI. They lived in Minneapolis from 1944-1946. In 1946 they moved to Lakeland. Eleanore worked for Bray Hospital and Margaret’s Variety Store in Biwabik. Following Sidney’s death, she married Albert Phillipich and in July of 1969 they moved to California. In 1976 they returned to Lake Eshquaguma. She was a member of Community United Church of Christ where she served on several boards and councils. She was also a member of Women’s Life, the Eastern Star Biwabik Senior Citizens and the Biwabik American Legion Auxiliary. Eleanore was a former member of the Biwabik Garden Club and in the past served as PTA President. Survivors include her eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Sidney; second husband, Albert; sons, Bruce Blackmore, Dr. Gary Blackmore and Dr. Ronald E. Blackmore; brother, Earl; sister, Audrey; grandson, Cameron.
