Visitation for Dick H. Hollenbeck, 84, of Aurora will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 12noon to 2pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. A luncheon will follow at the Aurora American Legion at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Burial will take place in the Spring in the Waasa Cemetery. Mr. Hollenbeck died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at his residence. He was born December 2, 1927 in Morris, MN to James and Hilda Hollenbeck. Following his high school graduation, he farmed with his father. On January 29, 1949 he married Viola Eidal in Wendell, MN. They farmed near Farwell, MN. In 1957 they moved to Aurora and later lived in Embarrass for 40 years. In the early 1990's they returned to Aurora. Dick worked for Erie Mining Company and retired from there as a crane operator with over 30 years of service. Dick also worked for Wachlin and Oberfoell Auction Companies for many years. Dick was a member of the Sons Of the American Legion, SOAR and the Red Riders Saddle Club. He also served as Supervisor for the Waasa Township Board for several years. Survivors include his wife, Vi; children, Teresa (Dave) Faust of Nisswa, Diane (Bob) Gihl of Shoreview, Peggy Koivisto of Pequot Lakes and Rob (Suzy Watson) Hollenbeck of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren, Robert, Scott, Tom, Sue, Ted, Tarik and Tracy; several great grandchildren; sister, Inez (Charles) Wathen of Winnetka, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Colleen McIntosh.
