Terry J. Koivisto

Funeral service for Terry J. Koivisto, 59, of Palo, will be 10am Saturday January 14, 2012 in St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Palo with Rev. Charles Barnes officiating. Visitation will be today (Friday) from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors accorded by the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be in the Rauha Cemetery in Palo. Terry died Tues. Jan. 10, 2012 at Essentia Health in Duluth. He was born Dec. 1, 1952 in Virginia, MN to Eino and Jane (Ostlund) Koivisto. Terry was a graduate of Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School and later studied auto mechanics at the Eveleth Vo-Tech. He also served our country in Korea with the US Army. On Aug. 10, 1974 he married Choe "Sunshine" Ilsun in Palo. Terry worked for LTV Mining Company until its closure. Following that time he operated and currently owned Koivisto's Junkyard. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Aurora American Legion Post 241. He especially enjoyed hunting, restoring classic cars and attending "Back To The 50's" car shows. Survivors include his wife, Choe "Sunshine"; daughter, Lori (Luis) Koivisto of Ventura, CA; father, Eino Koivisto of Palo; siblings, James (Cindy) Koivisto of Palo and Sally Miller of Palo; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jane and brother-in-law, Chris Miller.
