Allan J. Boerger, 72, passed away Saturday January 21, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Service will be held 2 pm Saturday January 28, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes. Visitation will begin at 1 pm, interment to take place at Hoyt Lakes cemetery, Rev. Charles Barnes officiating. Services by Ziemer Moeglein Shatava Funeral Home. Allan grew up in Aurora, and after graduation from Aurora High School in 1957, he enlisted in the Air Force. While serving in Alabama, Allan met and married the love of his life, Melinda "June" Johnson in 1961. Together they raised four great children. T/Sgt Allan Boerger retired in 1978 after 21 years of faithful service. After the service, Allan began work for Erie mining Co., then worked for Ring Power Corp. in Jacksonville, Florida as a Millwright. He was active with TREA, a member of NCOA, the American Legion, and the VFW. Allan enjoyed watching football, bowling, fishing, and the outdoors. But he truly loved spending time with his family, and especially the grandchildren.He had a warm, kind heart and will be dearly missed. Allan is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, June; four children Lori (Frank) Judnick, James Boerger, Kamala (Richard) Warren, David (Gabriela) Boerger; ten grandchildren, Frankie, Cory, Matthew, Justin, Brookes, Bronze, Cash, Daniel, Abbey, Isabela; great-granddaughter Kaylie; two brothers Leroy (Betty) Boerger, Robert (Connie) Boerger, two sisters, Pat (George) Field, Lois (DeWayne) Ingebretson; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends; honorary granddaughters Rachel, and Brooke Bishop. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant grandson Mitchell; and niece Denise Boerger.
