Funeral service for Donald L. Mount, 89, of Biwabik, will be 10:30am Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Embarrass Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Donald Norr officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Biwabik Township Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Mr. Mount died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his son's home in Biwabik. Donald was born September 5, 1922 in Wynot, Nebraska to Eugene and Mary (Iverson) Mount. On December 17, 1943 he married Ardell DeCent. Donald served two years with the Merchant Marines during WWII. In 1955 he moved his family to Hoyt Lakes where he worked as a mechanic for Erie Mining Company. He was a member of Steelworkers Union 4108. Don retired from LTV Steel in 1980. Donald was a kind, loving man who spent countless hours repairing automobiles for others, free of charge. Family was the joy of his life. Survivors include his wife, Ardell; children, Carolyn (Jerry) Undem of Wyoming, Linda Amitie of North Carolina, Donald (Pam) Mount of Biwabik Township, Ginger (Nathan) Carter of Indiana, Allan (Doreen) Mount of Fayal, Eugene (Kathryn) Mount of Biwabik and Sheldon (Lisa) Mount of McKinley; brother, Eugene (Kathy) Mount of Crosby; 20 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; a grandson, David; son-in-law, Claude Amitie; great granddaughter, Destany.
