William “Bill” Frank Houwman, 86, died Monday February 13, 2012 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora, MN. He was born February 1, 1926 to Frank and Janka Houwman in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday February 16 at Ziemer Moeglin Shatava funeral home in Aurora, and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. Funeral service Friday February 17, 2012 at United Methodist Church of Aurora. Rev. Barb Hegfors officiating, military honors accorded by the Aurora Color Guard. Bill was an Army veteran and served in Korea, and worked as a transmission mechanic for the Reserve Mining Co. for 32 years. Bill and Beverly also owned Aurora Floral from '62-'69. Bill loved Minnesota sports, the Vikings and Twins, and he enjoyed fishing. He was a fun loving guy who loved his family; Bill will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandsons Jonathan and Daniel Houwman; siblings Elizabeth Cartie, Pete and Andrew (Dorothy) Houwman; brother-in-laws Donald Enberg, Thomas and Paul Cartie, Leonard Beebe; mother and father in-laws Ralph and Bernice Anderson. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly; children Roger (Kathy) Houwman, Debra Kay (Edwin) Haveri, David Wayne (Trudie) Houwman, Keith (Lynn) Houwman; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; soon to arrive great-great grandaughter Natalie May; siblings Jenny Cartie, Helen Enberg, Florence Beebe, Francis (Elene) Houwman;sister in law Evelyn Houwman; extended family and friends.
