Gary R. Plourde

Funeral service for Gary R. Plourde, 77, of Aurora, will be 10am Friday, March 2, 2012 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Steven Daigle officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Gary died Sat. Feb. 25, 2012 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. He was born Feb. 15, 1935 in Duluth, MN to Raymond and Helen Plourde. Gary was a graduate of Duluth Central High School and served with the Minnesota Army National Guard. Gary was an avid ski jumper and tried out for the US Olympic Ski Team. He worked as a foreman at Bechtel Construction and later retired from Iron Worker's Local 563. He enjoyed spending time with his family picking berries, hunting and fishing. Gary loved the game of golf and worked as a ranger at Giants Ridge Golf Course. He is survived by his children, Vicki (Wally) Johnson, Laura (Dale) Beron and Julie Plourde; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Plourde; seven grandchildren, Lisa, Dan, Ryan, Katie, Rachel, Matt and Brandon; three great grandchildren, Giovanni, Christian and Barrett. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Plourde 9/11/10; sister, Joan Gelineau.
