Dennis Fleetwood

Dennis Eugene Fleetwood 57 years old of Aurora, MN passed away from complications due to prostate cancer on Tuesday, February 28th, 2012 at 11:02pm at his home in Aurora, MN surrounded by his family. Dennis was born as the second child and only boy to Donald and Donna (Whitney) Fleetwood on September 20, 1954 in Wakefield, NE. Dennis has three sisters; Doreen (Gary) Wallace of Duluth, MN; Dawn (Daniel) Isaacson of Mt Iron, MN; and Darcy (Mark) Norha of Virginia, MN. In 1976 Dennis married Tracy Fontaine on December 10th in Virginia. They have two children, Shawnee (Shawn) Krueger of South Saint Paul, MN and Philip (Mary) Fleetwood of Cherry, MN. They are blessed with four beautiful grandchildren; Blaine Alexander Fleetwood, Leah René Fleetwood, Natalie Rose Krueger, and Annalies Elizabeth Krueger. Dennis and his family moved to Virginia, MN from Wakefield when he was 4 years old. He attended James Madison Elementary and Virginia Roosevelt High where he graduated in 1973. He graduated from Bemidji State with a degree in Education. He also attended Dunwoody with a concentration in Drafting. Dennis had many jobs starting at an early age. Some of them included Pastry Chef at the Italian Bakery, Lead Instructor of the Maintenance Mechanics Program at Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, and Millwright at US Steel Minntac. He retired in 2010 from both jobs. Dennis enjoyed many sports, namely hockey, baseball, car racing, skiing, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Dennis was a Ski Patrol for 15 years at Giant’s Ridge, was a part of the VHS Hockey team, and played recreational baseball. He attended many NASCAR races in Florida, Nevada, and Alabama. He was an active member of his brother-in-law Dan’s stock car pit crew at local racetracks. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Fleetwood. Dennis is survived by his wife, Tracy, of Aurora, MN; daughter, Shawnee (Shawn) Krueger and their daughters Natalie and Annalies of South Saint Paul, MN; son, Philip (Mary) Fleetwood and their children Blaine and Leah of Cherry, MN; mother, Donna Fleetwood of Duluth, MN; sisters Doreen (Gary) Wallace of Duluth, MN, Dawn (Dan) Isaacson of Mt Iron, MN, Darcy (Mark) Norha of Virginia, MN; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, students, and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 from 5-7pm at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert, MN. A service to remember Dennis will be held at the Loon Lake Community Center at 1pm on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 with a one hour visitation before the service. Burial will take place in the Rauha Cemetery in White Township, MN.
