John "Jack" Victor Freeman, 77, passed away on March 30, 2012 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday April 3, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday evening at Ziemer Moeglin Shatava Funeral Home of Aurora and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be at Rauha Cemetery, Fr. Steven Daigle officiating. John was born February 4, 1935 to Benedict and Victoria Freeman in Duluth. He graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1953. John married Mary (Kay) Williams November 12, 1955. They lived in Duluth together, he worked at US Steel in Morgan Park until 1957. John then moved to Aurora and began working for Erie Mining Co. as an overhead crane operator. He retired from LTV Steel January 31, 1998. John enjoyed country music, watching sports and fishing. He paid close attention to world and national affairs; he was interested in WWII history, cars, trains, and boats. John faced his diagnosis of Parkinson's and later diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia with grace and stoicism. He recieved compassionate care at the Northern Pines Nursing Home the past two years. A special 'Thank You' to the caring and loving staff of Northern Pines Hospital for the excellent care in the past two weeks. John is survived by wife Kay; daughter Theresa Freeman, two sons Kenneth (Shiela) Freeman, Jeffrey (Anastasia) Freeman; four grandchildren Paul, Megan, Madeline, Alyssa; sister Mary (Ken) Greenwalt; nephew Tim (Elizabeth) Thorson, neice Katie (Rick) Hossner, their kids Eric, Bethany. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister Barbara Thorson.
