Funeral service for Jennie Shain, 88, of Aurora, will be 10am Friday, April 27, 2012 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Aurora with Rev. Paul Buettner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at a later date in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Jennie died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at her residence. Jennie (Kangas) Shain was born Jan. 18, 1924 in Eveleth, MN to Einar and Ida Kangas. the family lived in Eveleth, Genoa, Sparta and again in Eveleth. She attended schools in Sparta, Gilbert and was a 1942 graduate of Eveleth High School. Jennie worked at Hendrickson's Bakery and later as a secretary for Morris Greenberg. On March 1, 1952 she married Richard Shain in Eveleth. They made their home in Aurora and raised five children. Jennie was a member of the White Community Hospital Auxiliary and was a Charter Member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she was active with the rummage and bake sales and Lutefisk dinners. Jennie served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. She enjoyed sewing and alteration work at home for friends. She entertained at the nursing home with her guitar and accordion for many years. She had several friends join her in singing Finnish and Slovenian songs. She loved flower gardening, playing her keyboard organ and keeping in touch with family on the internet. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the United States in their motor home visiting children, relatives and visiting National Parks and tourist attractions. Survivors include her children, Diane (Douglas) Dawson of Pinelas Park, FL, Dennis of Centralia, WA, Norman (Debi) of Aurora, Gordon of Aurora and Bill (Barb) of Pine Island, MN; six grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; brother, Eino; sister-in-law, Ampi and granddaughters, Lori and Cindy.
