Leona Helen Pairolero, 90, of Hoyt Lakes, passed away peacefully with her family at her side Tuesday May 22, 2012 at Cornerstone Villa. Visitation will be 2 PM Friday May 25, 2012 at the Ziemer Moeglin Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Funeral service will begin at 3 PM, officiated by Fr. Steve Daigle. Interment to take place June 7 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, Michigan. Leona grew up in Ramsay Michigan, met and married Nick Pairolero on August 19, 1946. They moved their young family to Evergreen trailer court in 1954 to work at Erie Mining Co. In 1956 they moved to Hoyt Lakes. Leona was a homemaker, and she was very proud of her family. In later years she worked at the the Boase School as a substitute Janitor. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and the Hoyt Lakes VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Leona was a lively lady with a great sense of humor who enjoyed good times with her family and friends. She also greatly enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed it even more if they came bearing chicken wings! Leona is survived by her daughter Janice (Doug) Butzke; 2 grandchildren Ryan (Dianna) Butzke, Angie L. (RJ) Stanek; three great-grandchildren Anicka L. Stanek, Adeline and Nicholas Butzke of Hoyt Lakes; one sister Julia Elgenes of Ironwood, MI; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. She is preceded by her husband Nick on Feb 6, 1976; four brothers Michael, Steve, Louis, Joseph Pinter, and sister Rose Jiongo. Leona fought a long battle, may God welcome her into His arms.
