Memorial Mass for Germaine M. Peterson, 88, of Biwabik, formerly of Aurora, will be 10am Friday, June 8, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home. Germaine died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Clayridge Assisted Living in Biwabik, MN. She was born April 11, 1924 in Calumet, MN to Peter and Margaret Loscheider. Germaine was the sixth of eleven children. In 1944 she married Linden Larry Peterson. They lived in Virginia MN, Ashland WI for five years, Hibbing MN for 20 years and in Fairbault MN prior to moving to Aurora in 1988. She was a homemaker and an expert seamstress who did custom sewing and alterations for 25 years. Germaine was active in Girl Scout Leadership in all of her communities. She received the Thanks Badge, District Leadership Award and the Life Time Award in scouting. Germaine was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was active in the choir and Happy Quilters. Germaine enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing. She especially loved spending time with her five great grandchildren; Lydia, Carter and Aubree Skelton and Patrick and Ethan Douglas. Survivors include her children, Susan (R.C.) Ray of Memphis, TN, Paula (David) Skelton of Biwabik, Virginia (John) Hernandez of Dolores, CO and Lawrence Peterson of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Chad (Brenda) Skelton and Sarah (Craig) Douglas both of Aurora; brothers, Robert Loscheider and Peter (Maryann) Loscheider; sisters, Toni Gargano, Doris MacDonald, Agnes Peterson and Marlene (Don) Nelson; thirty seven nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; sisters, Geraldine Birch Weider, Viola Thompson, Greta Altman; brothers, Lawrence and George Loscheider. Germaine's family would like to thank the devoted staff of Clayridge Assisted Living who helped care for her the past four years of her life.
