James Edward Flower, 80, of Gilbert, died Tuesday July 24, 2012. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Sunday July 29, 2012 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. James urn will be committed at assembly area 5, Ft. Snelling National Cemetery on Friday August 3, 2012. James was born January 10, 1932 to James and Viola (Kinnunen) Flower in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Edison High School, and entered the US Army. He retired as a First Sergeant after proudly serving his country 27 years. James was awarded the Silver Star for his bravery in the Korean Conflict and also fought in the Vietnam War. After the military, Jim worked as a contractor in Iowa, until 1991 when he moved to Gilbert and opened Iron Range Antiques. Jim loved his family and had a generous nature despite his gruff exterior. He is dearly loved and will be missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Donald, sisters Pat Roy, Leota. Jim is survived by his sons Justin Flower, Patrick Flower, Chong; brothers Doug, Steven, Jerry (Sue), Michael, and Norman Flower; sisters Jeanne (Dave) Sutton, Francis (Harvey) Sweetman, Betty Taylor; extended family and many friends.
