James Henry Karish, 72, of Biwabik died Friday August 31, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth. Memorial Mass will be 10 AM Friday September 7, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church in Biwabik, visitation one hour prior. Fr. Steven Daigle officiating, services by Ziemer Moeglein Shatava Funeral Home. Jim was born March 15, 1940 in Biwabik to Louis and Eine (Hill) Karish. He graduated from Horace Mann High School and Virginia Junior College. Jim served in the US Army as an MP. He worked for Erie Mining Co. as a purchasor, and later retired from Cleveland Cliffs. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Biwabik American Legion. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, woodworking, and playing button box accordion music. Jim was a devoted father with a great sense of humor, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. James is survived by three daughters, Kimberly (Todd) Berg, Kristin (Tom) Ribich, Kari (Chris Stupca) Karish; five grandchildren, Brianna and Austin Berg, Aubri, Anna, and Jack Ribich; ex-wife and friend Lorna Boutin; siblings Robert (Lois) Karish, Mary Ann Peterson; extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Michael.
