Herbert A. Thesing Jr.

Funeral service for Herbert A. Thesing Jr., 57, of Virginia, will be 11am Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Gilbert Community Methodist Church in Gilbert, MN. Pastor Michelle Olson will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Herb died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. Mary's - Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. He was born November 9, 1954 in Hibbing, MN to Herbert Sr. and Mary (Edwards) Thesing. Herbert was a graduate of Gilbert High School and worked at MinnTac as a drill operator. Herbert is survived by his mother, Mary Thesing of Gilbert; children, Kristy (Walter) Skahl of Virginia, Herbert Thesing III of Iron, Melissa Mortimer of Aurora and Chad Thesing of Eveleth; siblings, Christine (Don) Mitchell of Montana, Barbara (David) Vasquez of Arizona, Linda (James) Hall of Gilbert, Beverly Thesing of Virginia, David Thesing of Gilbert and Shelli Dugal of Virginia; special grandchild, Kaylee Johnson; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and his canine companion, Sam. He leaves behind a very special son-in-law, Walter Skahl, who he thought of as a son. Bless him for the care he showed. He is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Sr. and a brother-in-law, Jack Owens.
