Patricia Ruth Rolando, age 78 of Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 8:10pm as a result of a lengthy battle with Parkinson related Lewy Body Dementia. Patricia was born April 5, 1934 in Soudan, Minnesota to Owen and Kathryn (Verbon) Koski. In high school, she was a drum majorette and she graduated from Tower Soudan High School in 1952. On January 24, 1953 she married Ronald Rolando from Ely, Minnesota at the St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Tower, Minnesota. She moved with her husband and family from Soudan, Minnesota to St. Paul and Silver Bay, Minnesota; Moline, Illinois and eventually settled in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota. Pat was a homemaker raising five children. She was an extremely talented seamstress and artist. During the holidays, she would take a card and replicate the scene in oil on the living room window. Pat was involved in church activities throughout her lifetime. She was member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes, on the Women’s Catholic Council, served as President and was occasionally a Lector at Sunday Mass. In addition, she taught religious instruction to youth for many years. Pat was also a lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, with a chapter in Virginia, Minnesota. She loved to shop, especially with her daughters for clothing and jewelry and enjoyed her porcelain doll collection. She was married for 59 years. She and her husband Ron would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 24, 2013. Patricia is survived by her husband Ronald and five children; Wendy Tuggle of Crystal, Minnesota; Deborah Pender of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; Roland Rolando of Aurora, Minnesota; Martina Drasler of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Ryan Rolando of Virginia, Minnesota. Siblings Judy Anderson, Jerry Koski and Paula Tekautz, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Memorial mass will be 10am Friday, October 12, 2012 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Steven Daigle as celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the mass at church.
