Christine R. Samson

Funeral service for Christine Rose Samson, 99, of Gilbert, will be 11am Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Pastor Michael Wefel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Christine died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born September 29, 1913 in Gilbert, MN to Steve and Frances (Rozena) Praznik. Christine attended Gilbert schools. During WWII she worked in the defense plant in Pomona, CA and also as a housekeeper for families. On September 10, 1945 she married Ludwig J. Samson in Hibbing, MN. Christine was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking potica. Her other hobbies included embroidery, gardening, and berry picking. Survivors include her children: Elizabeth (Harry) Kuitunen of Biwabik, Bernard (Susan) Samson of Gilbert and Ludwig P. Samson of Gilbert; four grandchildren: Jill Cundiff (Vance Elfering), Dean (Bonnie) Kuitunen, Lisa (Darren) Leet and Thomas (Sarah) Samson; eight great grandchildren: Nathan, Tyler, Peri, Nicole, Emma, Conrad, Marlowe and Jakob; sister: Frances Steh of Virginia, formerly of Gilbert. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Ludwig J.; sister: Helen Skerjance; brother: Frank Praznik
