Funeral Mass for Rose Mary Veronick, 97, of Gilbert, will be 10am Friday, December 7, 2012 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn as celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. In lieu of flowers or cards, Rose wished that memorials in her name be sent to the Mesabi Humane Society. Rose died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born August 1, 1915 in Dodgeville, Michigan to Frank and Mary (Chopp) Vukonich and grew up in Nashwauk, MN. She married John Veronick in Nashwauk in 1931. John and Rose moved to Gilbert in 1934 and raised their sons, Clifford and Jim. Rose worked for the Cluett-Peabody at the Arrowhead Shirt Factory in Gilbert for 30 years. In her younger days, she operated her own cafe in Gilbert, was a member of the Gilbert Sewing Club and Croatian Fraternal Union. She served on the Gilbert Library Board for 20 years, and was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking, animals, reading, hiking, sewing, quilting, the outdoors, living in Alaska, traveling and trips to Yugoslavia. She is survived by her son, Jim; daughter-in-law, Mary Veronick; grandchildren, David (Julie) Veronick, Brian Veronick, Mary Kay Riendeau, great grandchildren, Nicole Duff and Richard and Elizabeth Veronick; sisters, Agnes Vukonich and Frances Paolo. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Clifford; granddaughter, Renee; brother, Frank; sisters, Jenny and Ann.
