Funeral Mass for Elizabeth Klobuchar, 94, of Gilbert, will be 10am Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Elizabeth died Monday, December 17, 2012 at St. Michael's Health and Rehab in Virginia. She was born September 26, 1918 in Biwabik, MN to Eric and Lizzie (Sikkila) Maki. Elizabeth was a graduate of Horace Mann High School in Biwabik and later worked in Cleveland, Ohio during WWII in a cannery. Elizabeth married Jack Klobuchar on April 12, 1943 in Lebanon, PA. She was a homemaker and was employed at Jarva's Cafe and Carroll's Drug Store in Gilbert. Liz was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Gilbert Senior Citizens and a Life Member of the George and Mark Klobuchar VFW Auxiliary. Her expertise was baking ethnic baked goods such as Finnish Biscuit and Potica. Liz was a loving mother and grandmother who took an active role with her grandchildrens lives. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Beth (R. Brooks) Shepard of Ely and Becky (Denny) Bone of Eveleth; sisters, Helen Milos of Aurora and Gladyce Lampe of Lakeland; daughter-in-law, Gloria Klobuchar of Chaska; grandchildren, Lauren and Shelby Klobuchar, Zachary Shepard, Jacob Silas (Catherine) Shepard, Jesse Shepard, Joe (Sarah) Berry and Mallory and Garrett Bone; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Lizzie; husband, Jack; son, Mark; sisters, Sylvia Peterson and Lillian Isaacson; brother, Emil Maki.
