Memorial service for Eleanor Ann (Halmet) Leinonen, 71, of Palo, will be 11am Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Palo Congregational Church with Rev. Roger Millheim officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Rauha Cemetery Columbarium at a later date. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Eleanor died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Essentia Health in Duluth after a brief illness. She was born January 24, 1941 in Duluth, MN to Wayne and Lillie (Hall) Halmet. Eleanor was a 1959 graduate of Aurora High School and later graduated from Duluth Business University. She was employed at St. Louis County, Bonner and Walker Accountants and was office manager for Skubic Brothers Construction until her retirement. On March 22, 1997 she married David Leinonen. Eleanor was generous in all things. She was devoted to the care of her mother upon the untimley death of her father. She volunteered in her church, loved her family and her pets. Eleanor and Dave enjoyed traveling around the U.S. in their R.V. Survivors include her loving husband, David; sister, Nancy (Clifford) Eng of Duluth; her uncle, Fred Hall of Brimson; niece, Katherine (Todd) Davis of Austin, TX; nephew, Jonathan (Jenny) Eng of Virginia; three grand nieces and cousins also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the doctors and nurses of Essentia Health Intensive Care Unit.
