A gathering of family and friends for Timothy G. Spurlin, 69, of Palo, will be held from 4-6pm Friday, December 28, 2012 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. A private family burial will take place in the Rauha Cemetery in White Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Timothy died surrounded by family on Monday, December 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born April 15, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Guy and Linda (Jauhola) Spurlin. Tim married Nancy Kylmala on February 24, 1973 in Duluth. He worked as a painter for Paul Stromquist and sons for many years. Tim had a passion for music and enjoyed singing and playing country gospel. He recorded several solo CD's and with other individuals. Tim was the founder of the original Range Country Show in Palo and was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and enjoyed coaching sports. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; children, Debbie Maier of Cloquet, Christine Spurlin of Cloquet, Jeremy (Dana) Spurlin of Palo and Guy (Theresa) Spurlin of Eveleth; 10 grandchildren, Dawn, Augusta, K'Jara, Cody, Cassie, Sammie, Jadyn, Lia, Levi and Karlie; three great grandchildren, Carter, Daniel and Liam; mother, Linda Spurlin of Esko; father-in-law, Reino Kylmala of Biwabik; four sisters, Janet, Phyllis, Faith and Barbara; several nieces, nephews and his canine companion, Pockets. He is preceded in death by his father, Guy; great granddaughter, Jada and mother-in-law, Alice.
