Funeral Mass for Jenny "Ivanka" Sodnik, 85, of Duluth, formerly of Gilbert, will be 10am Thursday, January 10, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Jenny died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Crossroads in Duluth, MN. She was born February 21, 1927 in Zabnica, Slovenia to Joseph and Helena (Schiffer) Dolenc. In May of 1945 she left Slovenia and lived in various camps in Austria until arriving in the United States in 1949. Jenny lived a short time in Hill City prior to moving to Gilbert in 1949. On August 23, 1952 she married Michael Sodnik in Gilbert. Jenny worked at the Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory as a seamstress in Gilbert until 1953. At that time she began raising her family. She returned to the shirt factory in 1963 until 1979. Jenny was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the KSKJ Lodge. Survivors include her children, Mary Ann (Mark) Miller of Duluth, Michael (Linnea) Sodnik of Brooklyn Park and Marion (Wendy) Sodnik of Wauwatosa, WI; five grandchildren: Andrea (Eric) Smith, Melissa and Cassandra Sodnik and Lauren and Michael Sodnik; two great grandchildren: Kellen and Brynn Smith; brother, Joseph (Sylvia) Dolenc of Eagan, MN; sisters: Marinka Skubitz and Milena Stropnik both of Willoughby Hills, OH. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Michael.
