William Robert Nutley, 77, of Lakeland, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at his residence. There will be no formal funeral service, however, please keep Bill and his family in your prayers. He was born December 18, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to William and Pearl (Hahn) Nutley. Bill proudly served his country in the US Army from 1958-1961 in Wertheim, Germany. Following his military service, he was employed with Continental Airlines in California. He also operated Britt Heating and later worked as a St. Louis County Dispatcher until he was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx. Bill was a member of AFSCME, the Aurora American Legion Post 241 and enjoyed attending the Biwabik Township potluck dinners. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Other hobbies included watching the Chicago Bears, the History Channel, doing crossword puzzles, cooking, entertaining and time spent with Lillian at Branson, MO. He was known for his spaghetti and homemade sauerkraut. He was a source of information and was known as a "walking and talking encyclopedia." Survivors include his companion, Lillian Taylor and her sons, Kevin, Kraig and Kerry; his dog, Bella; daughter, Silvia Wilbur; son, Robert Nutley; sister, Linda Lund; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, William Jr.; sisters, Laurie Kimari and Janet Gifford.
