Funeral Mass for Josephine "Pep" Kern, 92, of Gilbert, will be 2pm Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Josephine died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia, MN. She was born February 12, 1920 in Gilbert, MN to Anton and Mary (Biljan) Fadlovich. Pep was a 1938 graduate of Gilbert High School and later married William Kern on August 14, 1939 in Gilbert. Pep was a homemaker and a long time volunteer at Ironworld in Chisholm, MN. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the auxiliary to the George and Mark Klobuchar VFW Post in Gilbert. Pep especially enjoyed dancing to polkas, listening to polka music, attending polka events and playing smear. Everyone was always welcome at Pep's home for a hot meal or a cozy bed when needed. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Sandon of Gilbert; son, E. William (Shelley) Kern of Hibbing; brothers, Rudy Fadlovich of St. Paul and Rudy Semeja of Virginia; five grandchildren, Raymond, Patrick, Shantel, Matthew and John; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Patricia in 1959; husband, William in 1978; brother, Joseph Fadlovich; son-in-law, Ray Sandon; step-father, Mike Semeja.
