Anthony "Tony" Ahlin

A private family graveside for Anthony J. "Tony" Ahlin, 93, of Aurora, will take place in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik, MN. A gathering of family and friends will be 3pm Friday, February 1, 2013 at The Lodge at Giants Ridge in Biwabik. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Raphael's Health and Rehab Center. Anthony died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at St. Raphael's Health and Rehab in Eveleth. He was born May 1, 1919 in McKinley, MN to Anton and Josephine (Strah) Ahlin. Anthony was a 1937 graduate of Gilbert High School and later served as Staff Sgt. with the US Army Air Corp. In January 1949 he married Margaret Grebenc. Anthony owned and operated the Conoco Super Service in Aurora from 1955-1984. He also worked at the Lake and Corsica Mines as a truck driver. He was a Life Member of the Aurora American Legion Post 241. Survivors include his children: Tony Jr. "Fred" Ahlin of Virginia, Susan (Jack) Babcock of St. Francis, Dennis (Donna) Ahlin of Cloquet, Joe (Anita Skenzich) Ahlin of Virginia and Paula (Bryce) Wiskow of Hugo; grandchildren: Todd Babcock, Amy Babcock, Whitney Strukel, Ben Ahlin, Bob Skenzich, Jacey, Ashlin and CJ Wiskow; five great grandchildren; sisters: Gen Laskowski of Duluth and Rosie Kozel of New Brighton; brother: Michael Ahlin of Hoyt Lakes; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Maggie; siblings: Margie Fedora, Dolores Hiti, Mary Ann Vukelich and Joan LaKosky.
