A service of remembrance for Reino "Ray" A. Kylmala, 92, of rural Aurora, will be 10:30am Monday, April 1, 2013 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Friends may gather at 9:30am. Military honors will be accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Interment will take place in the Ely Cemetery. Reino died Friday, March 22, 2013 at Clayridge Assisted Living in Biwabik, MN. He was born March 12, 1921 in Ely, MN to Eino and Aune (Knutti) Kylmala. Following his schooling, he served with the US Navy during WWII. On Nov. 23, 1929 he married Alice Hayden in Ely, MN. Reino worked for Local #106 as a painter for Stromquist and Sons in Duluth for 32 years. He was a member of the Aurora American Legion Post 241, an avid fisherman and a retired member of the Rice Lake Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his children: Terry (Doris) of Embarrass, Richard (Judy) of Kilgore, TX, Michael (Conny) of Duluth, Nancy Spurlin of Palo and Laura Ann (John) Halvorson of Esko; sister, Rita (Matthew) Baudek of Babbitt; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one expected great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; two daughters in infancy, Gail and Susan; son-in-law, Tim Spurlin.
