Memorial service for Carole Yvonne Trach, 74, of Leonidas, will be 11am Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at United In Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth with Rev. Joel Rova-Hegener officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Carole died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. She was born July 6, 1938 in International Falls, MN and in 1956 graduated from high school there. On March 10, 1957 she married David Trach in Seattle, Washington. Following their marriage, they moved to the Iron Range and began raising a family. Carole was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She especially was devoted to spending time with her husband's involvement in Union activities and SOAR where she was steadfast in her fight to stop injustices for people and create justice and dignity for all. Carole was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church and enjoyed being the First Lady of Leonidas. Survivors include her husband, Dave; children: Laurie (Mac) Santiago of Mpls, Barry (Kathy) Trach of Forest Lake and Wendy Trach of Hugo; grandchildren: Bianca and Javier Santiago, Jamie (Dean) Lindvall, Allycia (Mike) Schultz, Alexandra Trach, Sami and Clara Awwad; great grandchildren: Lucy Larson, Chase Lindvall and Brielle Schultz; brother: Ronnie (Jackie) Bement of Ramona, CA; sisters: Judy Bogenreif of Rockford, Ill and Sandy Akelstad of Milwaukee, WI; several nieces and nephews.
