Ferne I. Kraakmo

Ferne I. Kraakmo, 87 of Hoyt Lakes died peacefully on April 24, 2013 at Essentia Health - Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora, MN. Ferne was born on June 26, 1925 to Peter and Benora (Sather) Steenerson in Halstad, MN. On June 2, 1945 she was united in marriage to Iver Kraakmo. They farmed in the Twin Valley area until 1957 when they moved to Hoyt Lakes. She was a homemaker and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes. She loved to quilt, knit, crochet, work on puzzles and work in her garden. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne (Don) Maki of Aurora and Arizona; two grandchildren, Tammy (Dave) Warren of Ramsey, MN and Mark (Terri) Maki of South Fargo, ND; three great grandchildren, Jake, Megan and Haddy; two brothers, Franklin (Solveig) Steenerson of Seattle, WA and David (Barb) Steenerson of Ramsey, MN; one sister, Janet Stoa of Azusa, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Iver and brothers, Berdein, Orien, Wallace, Merlin and Jerome. The family wishes to thank the staff of Northern Pines for the care given to Ferne. Funeral service will be 1pm Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Rev. Ron Becklund officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.
