A celebration of Life service for Leona Lou Royseth, 77, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 11:45am Monday, May 13, 2013 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will take place a the Hoyt Lakes Community Building. Leona died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at her home in Hoyt Lakes. She was born Aug. 2, 1935 in Duluth to Leo and Lucille Glapa. She attended Duluth Public Schools. On Feb. 21, 1953 she married Raymond Royseth. They moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1962 where they raised six children. Leona loved to draw and play the organ. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter and cook. Most importantly she was a great Mom. She enjoyed playing in the Kitchen Band as Minnie Pearl and was a life member of the Aurora American Legion Auxiliary #241. Leona worked for the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes School District until her retirement in 1998. She was affectionately known by the schoolchildren as "Cookie". Leona and Ray enjoyed several years hosting family and friends at their lake home. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; children: Mona, Trigve (Tammy), Karl (Laurie), Kris, Russell and Matt (Sarah) Royseth; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Gloria Ensign; brother, Alan (Maxine) Glapa; cousin, Joan Seymour; brothers and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Falk; brothers, Frank and Tom Glapa; grandson, Derek. Heartfelt thanks to Linda Wright, Elsie Patrow, Norma Forsman and St. Mary's Hospice staff, especially Johanna, Flo and Linda.
