Funeral service for Lorna Mae Homola, 80, of rural Gilbert, will be 11am Monday June 3, 2013 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 5755 Ryan Rd., Duluth, MN. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8pm at the church and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church Cemetery in Duluth. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert, MN. Mrs. Homola died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born January 19, 1933 in Eveleth, MN to Henry and Ina (Ojakangas) Rasula. Lorna was a graduate of Eveleth High School and later attended Eveleth Junior College. On October 24, 1952 she married Harold Homola in Eveleth, MN. Lorna worked for the State of Minnesota employment office prior to becoming a financial worker for St. Louis County. She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Duluth. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Harold; children, Bruce (Joy) Homola of Gilbert, Robert (Nancy) Homola of Gilbert, Brian (Susie) Homola of Eyota, MN and Bonnie (Charles) Hallstrom of Calumet, MI; 30 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two nephews, Glenn Berts and Gary (Shelley) Berts; one niece, Sheila (Andy) LaVoie. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Lorraine Berts and one in infancy.
