Funeral Mass for Edward Gerald Ceglar, 82, of Aurora will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora with Fr. Steven Daigle Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Military honors will be accorded by the Quayle-Schuster-Truman-Muhich American Legion Post #241 of Aurora. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Edward died Monday, July 1, 2013 at Essentia Health Virginia. He was born on October 1, 1930 to Anton and Mary (Zuponcic) Ceglar in Aurora. Edward grew up and attended school in Aurora, graduating from the Aurora HS, Class of 1949. Following school, he went to work at Lake Mine. Edward enlisted into the US Army serving in the Korean War. After returning from overseas, Edward went to work for Erie Mining Company as a Civil Engineer and surveyor, retiring after 40 years of service. Edward was united in marriage to Bernice Plevell on June 17, 1961 in Aurora. The couple made their home in Aurora where they raised their family. Edward was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora where he was an honorary member of the Assumption Group. He was also a member of the All Slavs Club, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the KSKJ, and the VFW and American Legion in Aurora. Edward enjoyed gardening, polkas, and was very proud of his Slavanian heritage and loved his family dearly. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bernice; four children: Annette (Gerald) McKenna of Tower, Jim (Dawn) Ceglar of Palo, Tina (Rick) Raisanen of Coon Rapids, Jody (Wayne) Kerola of Aurora; four grandchildren: Bryanna Ceglar of Biwabik, Garret and Benjamin Ceglar both of Palo and Kyle (Coty Irish) McKenna of Mt. Iron; numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends; and his beloved dog, Buffie and three grand dogs: Shelby, Buck, and Sascha He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Joseph, Carl, Rudy, and Tony; six sisters: Molly Boben, Albena Drobinck, Mary Peternel, Frances Jacobs, Josephine Kilton, and Annie Dergan.
