Funeral service for Elvira Maki, 91, of Aurora, will be 11am Monday, August 12, 2013 at United Methodist Church in Aurora with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Elvira died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora. She was born September 11, 1921 in Aurora, MN to John and Liisa (Peura) Maki. Elvira was a 1940 graduate of Aurora High School and later married Carl Maki on December 27, 1944. Elvira was a homemaker, a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and its circles and the Aurora VFW Auxiliary. She was an active Chairwoman for the American Cancer Society for many years and while living at Clayridge and Northern Pines, she was an avid bandage roller for the church missions group. Elvira is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; sisters: Elmi Gozdanovich, Ailie Maki and a sister in infancy in Finland; brothers: Nilo, John and Walter.
